Sarah

Coach

When and where did you first step into the ring?

I started boxing in 2005 and my first fight was in 2007, for Girls Night Out in Berwick, NS.

What did it feel like the first time you got punched in the face?

It stung so bad, I was pretty shocked, but I got over it.

What makes a good boxing coach?

Someone who knows how to adapt the theory to the boxer's body and natural tendencies. Plus, a good coach will tell you the truth.

What’s your favourite combination?

1-2-3b-4b-3-4.

What’s on your typical playlist?

90's, all 90's — pop, hip hop, dance.

What kind of drills can we expect from your class?

I like working with pads a lot. A typical class will start with pad work, then bag work, then cardio burn rounds, and a lot of dancing (from me).

Who’s your favourite boxer or overall athlete?

Mckenzie Wright.

How do you think Boxing enhances your life or affects other areas of your life?

All I wanted to do was to learn how to fight so I could feel safer. Now I'm able to help other women feel more empowered and that makes me super happy.
